MOSUL: The return of dozens of Iraqi families suspected of links to the Daesh group from Syria to Mosul has sparked fears among residents who survived the horrors of Daesh rule. Around 300 people from some 90 families left the Kurdish-run Al-Hol camp in northeast Syria on Tuesday under Iraqi army escort, a Kurdish administration official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
DUBAI: The Philippine government has temporarily halted the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to Saudi Arabia, in what the labor secretary said was “effective immediately and until further notice.”
“The department received reports that departing OFWs are being required by their employers/foreign recruitment agencies to shoulder the costs of the health and safety protocol for COVID-19 and insurance coverage premium upon their entry in the Kingdom,” labor chief Silvestre Bello III said in his May 27 memorandum for the government’s main overseas labor deployment office.
The labor department will resume deployment of OFWs after the matter has been clarified, Bello added in his memorandum.

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Engineering Projects and Studies Agency announced the resumption of work on the third expansion project of the Grand Mosque, Al Arabiya reported.
The agency has issued 60 licenses to carry out construction, electromechanical works and architectural finishes.
The resumption of works includes, but is not limited to, the main gates and lighthouses (King Abdulaziz Gate, Bab Al-Umrah and Bab Al-Fath).
Works also include the installation of suspended ceilings in the floors of the Mataf building, and the completion of work on the Mezzanine project.
HURAYMILA: Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing and representatives of Saudi-based Chinese companies on Wednesday took part in the afforestation campaign of Huraymila National Park, supervised by the National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification. The ambassador was received by the CEO of the center, Dr. Khaled Al-Abdulqader.
